New Record Set at North Texas Giving Day

People across North Texas reached deep into their pockets September 18, to raise a record-breaking $26.3 million for local charities. In just 18 hours, North Texas Giving Day surpassed its own national record by more than $1 million.

Several cities even hosted events to celebrate the online giving fundraiser. In Dallas, the Communities Foundation of Texas put together an all-day event to showcase participating non-profits. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., people stopped by to eat at one of the several food trucks, and support their favorite charities.

Many booths, such as Zoe’s Lemonade stand, raised money for their charities during the event.

Others were there to show off their furry friends. The SPCA brought several pups, such as Carter, to greet people and hopefully even find a forever home.

The Dallas Zoo stopped by too, bringing along with them a less furry guest.

Live performers from the Dallas Children’s Theatre kept attendees occupied throughout the event. A princess and dragon showed up to perform part of the new play Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A very hairy fairy tale

…while a more modern-day princess, Miss DFW, shook hands and posed for plenty of pictures.
